dear man who asked me for "jobs for food" for him and his three month pregnant fiance, or just some money if i didn't have any jobs,
what makes you think that d.i.* would make a good place to panhandle? no really, it seems like that would be the last place one should beg from strangers. i mean, these are people who buy their clothing/goods/children's toys/christmas presents second hand.** is the thinking that people who are so down on their luck that they're buying secondhand underpants*** are more likely going to be able to relate to your plight? is the thought process that it's a somewhat but not really religious place, so people will be nicer? because it's been my experience that people shopping at d.i. are not the nicest of people. have you ever seen the crowds, elbowing, pushing when a fresh cart of junk arrives? it's ugly, man.
no really, dear reader, is d.i. the best or the worst place to panhandle?
best regards,
the girl who told you that i didn't have any money on her, and really, it was true
*if you're unfamiliar with those initials, it's like a Goodwill type of place, except for it's run by the mormons. there's practically one on every corner in utah. ok, well, not really, but like one per a city. that's impressive, folks.
**i, of course, belong in this group, of course.

Awesome. I always feel uncomfortable when panhandlers ask me for money. I am typically against giving people money, but I want to give them information on soup kitchens and mental health/employment/rehab assistance programs. But then again, I usually am just uncomfortable so I ignore them.
